Matchbook Nudes

The road to nude photography has many turns but none more surprising than the path taken by John Williams, who was commissioned to make a series of covers for a group of matchbook collectors.

JOHN HAD become addicted to photography at the age of eleven when he built his first pinhole camera. As he grew got older, his addiction became passion, a way to be creative both with the camera and in the darkroom.

He started working with models at an early age. "Friends always wanted me to photograph them for their boyfriends," he says wistfully. "That's when I started leaning more towards glamour photography."
