Picturing Humanity

Kate Cymmer was born in Lodz and has lived in Göttingen since 1987. During her final days in school around 2002 she started experimenting intensively with photography and her initial works involved themes with people and nudes.

SHE MANAGES not only to maintain her own soft, feminine style but also traverses the difficult border between artistic photography and simply parading bare skin, continually mastering this to benefit both herself and the subjects of her work. The total human being is always the most important element in her work as human existence also implies humanity.
