Natural Light

Inspired by the beauty of the female form, Gerhardt blends the natural landscapes of the Australian bush and beach, achieving a vision of physical perfection through the interplay of sunlight, shadow, textures of sand, the rush of the waves, mortar and stone.

WHILST HE ADMIRES the work of Norman Lindsey and Edward Weston, each strikes him in a distinctly different way, yet he feels that there is a harmony of form that runs through all of their work. Given the sheer strength of Gerhardt's work, it would be difficult to argue that such a current does not run through his veins also.
