As Director of MoMA New York Edward Steichen's signature exhibition was The Family of Man in 1955. It featured over 500 images from 68 countries across the world depicting life, love and death.
The full impact of his innovative work and tremendous contribution to 20th century photography was illustrated at the Jeu de Paume's major Steichen retrospective exhibition in Paris, 2007 - the first since 1961. A smaller version will travel to Switzerland, Italy and in 2008, while Steichen's pioneering fashion work will be shown separately as Steichen: In High Fashion in Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Germany and New York, at the International Center of Photography, in early 2009.
