Dark Matter

Heavily influenced by the pagan aspects of Catholic iconography, mythology, Art Deco and Art Nouveau, Elisa Lazo de Valdez' work reflects dark sensuality, mythology and luxury of form.

IN HER nude work Elisa tries to express the beauty by contrasting it with texture and fabric, wrapping it in shadow and making us long for light. Her images are often described as gothic, dream like and surreal. It is the pure form hidden, promising delights beyond what we can see, images that are exotic and alien. We never quite know what to expect and never quite know what to feel.
