Nikon CAPTURE NX2
Improving Images

by JULIA SONK

An upgraded version of the 2006 image software, Capture NX2 from Nikon speeds up the re-touching time with some extra easy tools.
'An easy and no-nonsense way to quickly improve images'

FEATURES INCLUDE Selection Control Point that allows applying effects to selected areas. Auto Retouch Brush will, without too much sweat, mask any dust or other undesired imperfections on the image by mimicking its immediate surroundings. This is obviously similar to options that have been available in imaging programmes for a long time, but Capture NX2 implements these tools particularly well.

You can switch between four different workspaces: Browser, Metadata, Multi-Purpose and Edit Features, each with its own palette layout. Adding shadow or highlights can be done by simply moving the slider or entering a value. If you’re in a real hurry, you can take advantage of Quick Fix – a one-window interface for adjusting levels, tone, contrast, saturation and other values.

Capture NX2 is an easy and no-nonsense way to quickly improve images and will work on Windows Vista and XP as well as on Mac OS X (10.4.11, 10.5.2).
